Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Catchment Care is operated by eliemedia, Vancouver, British Columbia. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies to commercial activity, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.
1. The short version
- You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or phone number.
- We do not use cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers.
- We do not sell personal information.
2. Searches you make
When you search by address, city, or school, the text you enter is sent to our server to find nearby facilities. For address searches, our server looks up coordinates using the Province of British Columbia's BC Address Geocoder. We may briefly cache lookup results to keep the site fast. We do not link searches to you.
3. Technical information
Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse. Map tiles are loaded by your browser from OpenFreeMap, which receives your IP address when it serves them. These providers handle that data under their own privacy policies, and some may process it outside Canada.
4. Cookies and analytics
The site currently sets no cookies and uses no analytics. If we add privacy-friendly analytics or any feature that collects personal information, we will update this policy first.
5. Facility information
Facility details come from the public BC "Child Care Map Data" dataset under the Open Government Licence – British Columbia. Some licensed family childcare providers operate from a home; we show only what the Province publishes. Providers who want their published information changed should contact BC child care licensing.
6. Children's information
The site is meant for parents, guardians, and providers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we never collect children's information on Catchment Care itself.
7. Provider features (future)
We may later offer providers tools such as waitlist or registration forms on their own websites. In that case the provider decides what information to collect and is responsible for it, and eliemedia/Catchment Care acts only as a service provider processing it on the provider's behalf and instructions. Those forms will ask for the minimum information needed, collect a parent or guardian's consent, and explain how the information is used.
8. Emails
We do not send marketing emails to site visitors. Any commercial electronic messages we send to businesses follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL): they identify us, include our contact details, and include a working unsubscribe option.
9. Security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards for the limited data we handle and keep server logs only as long as needed for operation and security.
10. Your rights and contact
Under PIPA and PIPEDA you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for corrections, or withdraw consent. For privacy questions, contact us using the details on our About page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
11. Changes
We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. See also our Terms of Use.
